Identification

Springtails are tiny insects. Their size ranges from 0.25 to 6 mm.
They get their name from a spring-loaded structure, called the furcula, located on the underside of their abdomen.

Environment

Springtails seek out moisture, dampness, and humidity.
They can easily climb the sides of houses and are attracted to lights.
They can also be brought into homes in the soil of potted plants.
Overwatering encourages Springtail propagation.
